Counseling for individuals who are curious, self-reflective, and committed to intentional self-evolution.

Virtual counseling services in Florida, Idaho, and Utah.

You’re invested in the idea of living a deeply, meaningful life.

You’re invested in the idea of living a deeply meaningful life, but find yourself stuck in old patterns that, no matter how much you understand them, are hard to shake. Perhaps you see glimpses of the life, relationships, or version of yourself you want, but keep getting pulled back into familiar ways of thinking, reacting, avoiding, or relating. Maybe you’ve read the self-help books, tried the meditation, and even tried counseling before. Maybe you haven’t, and this is your first time seeking help. Either way, you’re curious about yourself, willing to experiment, and interested in actively participating in change rather than only understanding why things are the way they are.

So am I.

Hi, I’m Katie. I’m a Nationally Certified Counselor with advanced training in process oriented approaches such as EMDR, DBR, ACT, and Positive Psychology. I am an active participant in the therapy session, and bring my own curiosity, love for learning, and intentional engagement to the process.

I work best with individuals who are curious and motivated by intentional self-evolution - people who know they want to grow and change in specific, meaningful ways and are willing to actively participate in that process.

I provide virtual counseling for adults throughout Florida, Idaho, and Utah. Each state page includes more information about online sessions, insurance, and working with me from your location.

And yet sometimes, we get stuck in our own way.

Yes, sometimes there are patterns that feel out of our control and too difficult to overcome. Perhaps we’ve tried, and now we’re building up evidence that we simply can’t and we’re beginning to lose hope. In my practice, those patterns often show up as anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, trauma-related responses, stress and burnout, difficulty in family or relationships, avoidance, low motivation, depression, or questions about identity, spirituality, and meaning.

In our relationships with others

Relationship issues can show up as people-pleasing, conflict avoidance, difficulty setting boundaries, fear of rejection, or repeatedly finding yourself in roles and dynamics you wish were different. Sometimes the pattern is subtle: you may seem easygoing while quietly losing track of your own needs.

In our relationship with ourself

Self-trust can become difficult when self-criticism, shame, perfectionism, or second-guessing take over. You may struggle to know what you want, trust your own judgment, or feel disconnected from your values, needs, identity, or the way you want to move through your life.

In the way our systems respond to stress

Trauma and stress responses can look like hypervigilance, shutdown, dissociation, avoidance, numbness, or strong emotional and body-based reactions. Sometimes the present moment activates a pathway our system learned during an earlier experience of overwhelm, threat, loss, or prolonged stress.

In how we respond to responsibility, demand, and follow-through

We may struggle to organize competing demands, get started, follow through consistently, or know when enough is enough. Sometimes we compensate by overfunctioning, relying on urgency, pushing through exhaustion, or holding ourselves to rigid standards. Over time, these patterns can contribute to overwhelm and burnout.

In how we respond to uncertainty

Anxiety can show up as overthinking, reassurance-seeking, perfectionism, overplanning, or trying to create enough certainty that nothing can go wrong. When uncertainty, mistakes, or uncomfortable emotions feel especially hard to tolerate, control can become a way of trying to feel safer.

In the ways we we withdraw and disconnect

Depression can show up as sadness, but also as withdrawal, avoidance, low motivation, numbness, isolation, or feeling disconnected from things that once mattered. Over time, doing less and feeling less connected can reinforce the pattern and make it harder to move toward what gives life meaning.

Here’s how we’ll support growth + change, together.

We’ll start by getting clear on the patterns you’d like to change and what you want to be different. From there, we’ll build your ability to notice the pattern as it happens and get curious about what keeps it going. Together, we’ll develop working hypotheses about what may be holding the pattern in place, then use different processes, such as those below, to help establish new pathways. We’ll keep monitoring what is changing and adjust the work as we go.
