Katie Schulze, Licensed Professional Counselor in Boise, Idaho
Great to Meet You

Katie Schulze, LPC

Katie got into counseling because she genuinely wants to make the world a healthier, more joyful, more inclusive place. She believes that this will be done through a ripple effect which starts with individual healing and wellness. When an individual becomes well, their wellness will positively impact those they come into contact with: friends, a partner, children, extended family, neighbors, strangers. And so the ripple begins: those who were impacted will impact others. The journey to wellness is essential for an individual’s joy, and it is essential for the world.

Katie is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Idaho and a nationally certified counselor (NCC). She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling from Boise State University. She has experience working with adult and adolescent clients through issues like anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, family issues, and career challenges. Her work is grounded in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), internal family systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, and mindfulness. She is currently working with individuals ages 14 and older.

On a more personal note, Katie’s family goes four generations back in Idaho, but she grew up in Georgia. In the early 1930’s her great-grandfather built a cabin in Ponderosa State Park (prior to the park’s name) and Katie spent the bulk of her summers, winters, and springs exploring the great Ponderosa trees. Ponderosa Counseling & Wellness Practice is named as an homage to the history the state park holds and its witness to generational growth towards wellness in her family. Before moving to Boise, she lived in New Orleans where she was a high school math teacher. She is a wife and partner, a mother to two tiny perfect humans, one dog, and four chickens. Katie loves animals and holds a certificate in Animal Assisted Interventions in Counseling.
