Making room for meaningful change
I offer virtual therapy for adults throughout Florida who want to make meaningful changes in how they experience and respond to life. Whether you're in Miami, Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, or somewhere in between, we can meet online from wherever you have a private space.
Sometimes, the ways we've learned to manage life begin to work against us. Staying busy becomes a way of avoiding difficult feelings. Trying to keep everyone happy comes at the expense of our own needs. Or we find ourselves responding to situations in ways that don't really reflect the people we want to be.
My work involves getting curious about these patterns and finding new possibilities for responding. We'll consider what you're experiencing now, what may have shaped those responses, and what matters enough to you that you'd like things to be different.
Why you might come to therapy
You don't necessarily need to be in a crisis to benefit from counseling. Sometimes the reason for starting therapy is simply recognizing that the way you're currently navigating certain parts of life isn't working as well as you'd like. Here are some of the concerns I regularly work with.
-
When your mind is constantly anticipating what could go wrong, leaving you caught between overthinking, seeking reassurance, or trying to control uncertain outcomes.
-
When the things that once interested or energized you begin to feel distant, and finding motivation, connection, or enjoyment requires more effort than it used to.
-
When you're spending so much energy managing responsibilities, meeting demands, or keeping up with life that there's little left for rest, enjoyment, or yourself.
-
When your body or emotions react more strongly than a situation seems to warrant, sometimes reflecting experiences or patterns learned long before the present moment.
-
When recurring conflicts, unmet expectations, or difficulties with communication leave you feeling disconnected, resentful, or unsure how to navigate your relationships differently.
-
When self-criticism, comparison, or the pressure to be a certain kind of person makes it difficult to feel comfortable with who you are.
Approaches to creating change
There's more than one way to approach meaningful change. Some of our work may involve exploring the experiences that shaped your responses. Other times, we may focus on how you're relating to your thoughts, emotions, and the things that matter to you today. I draw from several therapeutic approaches, choosing what seems most useful for the patterns we're working with.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you develop a different relationship with uncomfortable thoughts and feelings so they have less influence over the choices you make and the life you want to create.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR provides a structured way to revisit and process experiences that may have contributed to persistent emotional reactions, negative beliefs, or patterns of avoidance.
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)
DBR works with the very early physical responses that emerge when we're triggered, helping us attend to reactions that often happen before we're consciously aware of them.
Positive Psychology
Positive Psychology invites us to look beyond what's causing distress and consider what helps us experience greater purpose, connection, enjoyment, and satisfaction in everyday life.

Many people come to therapy having already developed a good understanding of their experiences and patterns. Sometimes that understanding is enough to help us make changes, but other times our emotional or physical responses remain difficult to shift. Approaches like EMDR and DBR give us additional ways to work with those responses beyond talking about them.
-
Not at all. Part of my role is helping us determine what kind of work might be useful. We'll talk about what you're hoping to change, explore the patterns that seem relevant, and consider which approaches make the most sense. We can also adjust as we go.

Our first meeting is an opportunity for me to learn more about you, what brings you to therapy, and what you'd like to be different. You won't need to tell your entire life story or immediately revisit difficult experiences. We'll begin identifying priorities, discussing how we might work together, and deciding what feels like a useful place to start.
What would you like to be different?
Maybe you already have some ideas. Maybe you just know that something about the way you're experiencing life needs your attention. Either way, we can begin by getting curious about what's happening, what matters to you, and what kind of change you'd like to make.
