Hawaiʻi
Online counseling for adults across Hawaiʻi, including Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island, and Kauaʻi, with specialized support for anxiety, trauma, stress and burnout, depression, and relationship concerns.
Therapy for adults across Hawaiʻi
I provide virtual counseling for adults throughout Hawaiʻi. I work primarily with people who are dealing with anxiety, trauma, burnout, depression, or relationship concerns that have started to feel entrenched or difficult to shift. Sessions are available to adults on Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, and elsewhere in the state.
Often, people come in with a good intellectual understanding of what’s happening but still feel caught in the same reactions. You may know the pattern, recognize where it came from, or even be able to predict it — and still find that your mind, body, or relationships respond in ways that are hard to change in the moment.
My approach is engaged and collaborative. Rather than relying on one method, we’ll look at what seems to be keeping the problem going and choose the kind of work that fits best, whether that means working with thoughts and behavior, processing past experiences, addressing automatic body-based responses, or strengthening the parts of life that support greater wellbeing.
Concerns I often work with
Some people come to therapy with a clear diagnosis or specific event in mind. Others just know that something keeps getting in the way, in their thoughts, relationships, energy, or ability to feel like themselves. These are some of the concerns I work with most often.
-
Does your mind seem to be constantly preparing for what might happen next? Counseling for persistent worry, overthinking, physical tension, avoidance, and difficulty tolerating uncertainty.
-
When life starts to feel heavier, less interesting, or harder to participate in. Therapy can help with persistent sadness, low motivation, withdrawal, and feelings of disconnection.
-
For those who feel like they're always running on empty. We can explore chronic stress, emotional fatigue, competing demands, and the difficulty of finding time or energy to recover.
-
Counseling for difficulties with communication, trust, boundaries, and emotional connection, including patterns that seem to repeat across different relationships.
-
Sometimes our reactions feel bigger or faster than the moment calls for. Therapy can help us explore the experiences and learned responses that may be contributing to them.
-
How do you relate to yourself when things get difficult? We can work with self-criticism, shame, identity, self-acceptance, and the beliefs that shape your sense of worth.
Ways we may work
I use several different approaches because people don’t get stuck in the same way. Sometimes the work is about changing how you respond to thoughts and emotions. Sometimes it’s about processing experiences that still carry charge. Sometimes we’re working with reactions that happen so quickly they seem to begin before conscious thought. And sometimes the focus is on building more of what helps life feel meaningful, connected, and alive.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you become less governed by difficult thoughts and feelings so you can respond with more flexibility and make choices that better reflect what matters to you.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR can help when particular experiences, memories, or beliefs still seem to carry too much weight in the present and continue to influence how you feel or react now.
Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR)
DBR offers a slower, more body-focused way of working with distress by paying attention to the earliest reactions that emerge before the full emotional response takes over.
Positive Psychology
Positive Psychology helps us pay attention to what supports wellbeing — including relationships, strengths, engagement, meaning, and the experiences that make life feel fuller rather than simply less difficult.
-
Yes. I provide virtual counseling to adults throughout Hawaiʻi. You can work with me from Maui, Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, or another island as long as you’re physically located in Hawaiʻi during the session.
-
For some people, virtual therapy is simply more convenient. For others, it expands the number of therapists available to them, particularly when they live outside Honolulu, are looking for a specialized approach such as EMDR or DBR, or prefer greater separation between therapy and their local community.
-
Sessions take place through secure video. You’ll join from a private location with a reliable internet connection, and the session itself functions much like an in-person appointment.
-
Yes. Both approaches can be used through telehealth when they’re clinically appropriate. Before beginning this kind of work, we’ll talk about what you’re experiencing, preparation, pacing, and how to structure sessions in a way that fits you.

Private-pay sessions are $200 per session.

Looking for a therapist in Hawaiʻi?
Finding the right therapist can matter more than finding the closest one. If you’re looking for support with anxiety, trauma, burnout, depression, or relationship concerns, we can start with what’s been feeling difficult and talk about whether my approach fits what you’re looking for.
